There were 17 companies in cities associated with Salt Lake County that received FDA citations as a result of 17 inspections conducted in the county in 2025, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

This is a 13.3% increase over the number of companies cited in the previous year.

Of the 57 citations issued, the most common citations were ‘You did not develop an FSVP’ and ‘You did not conduct, or have conducted for you, a hazard analysis to determine whether there are food safety hazards that are reasonably likely to occur for each kind of fish and fishery product you process’.

Most of the companies cited were involved in the Devices sector. The second most common type of company operated in the Food and Cosmetics sector.

Of the companies cited, 15 should take voluntary actions to correct their managing operations (88.2%). Additionally, two companies had to take regulatory and/or administrative actions (11.8%).

The FDA routinely inspects facilities across the nation to determine if the workplace and their products are compliant with FDA-regulated laws and regulations implemented to improve overall public health. Inspection results are then disclosed publicly.

According to its website, the FDA is a government agency that is primarily responsible for monitoring the production and distribution of human and animal drugs, biological products, medical supplies and tobacco products for safety and quality.
