Monument Healthcare Murray Creek ranked No. 2 for nursing home size in Salt Lake County in Q1

Monument Healthcare Murray Creek was the second biggest nursing facility in Salt Lake County in the first quarter of 2026, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) report.

The center offered 184 beds—98 more than the county average in the first quarter—and cared for an average of 102 residents during this time.

CMS assigned Monument Healthcare Murray Creek an overall rating of 2 out of 5. This rating is below the Utah nursing home average of 3.4.

In the same quarter, St. Joseph Villa had the most beds in Salt Lake County at 221, while Sandy Health and Rehab was third, with 141 beds.

Monument Healthcare Murray Creek accumulated $120,948 in fines from two penalties as of the first quarter of 2026.

There were 25 for-profit nursing homes across Salt Lake County, Utah.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate the population of older adults is rising as the number of children drops. From 2020 to 2024, Americans age 65 or older increased by 13%, while those younger than 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the past century, the country’s older adult population has climbed from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.

According to a 2021 study, about half of this age group—approximately 28 million—are projected to need long-term services and support, and more than a third may ultimately require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
