WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04) released the following statement on his support of the H.R. 3746, Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023.
“In just two years, Washington Democrats increased spending by a record-breaking $10,000,000,000,000, fueling 40-year high inflation and crippling families nationwide. House Republicans promised to deliver an economy that’s strong, and that starts by slowing the federal government’s alarming rate of spending. By slashing inflationary spending, lifting more Americans out of poverty, clawing back tens of billions in unspent COVID funds, streamlining the energy permitting process, defunding Biden’s IRS army, and more, the Fiscal Responsibility Act – the largest deficit reduction in American history – will restore economic sanity to Washington and make Congress work again. While it doesn’t include everything we fought for in the Limit, Save, Grow Act, I voted in favor of this compromise because we can no longer sit back and let this national debt crisis continue bankrupting our kids and grandkids.”
